Japan Promotes Education in Bushenyi
The Embassy of Japan in Uganda has today handed over school facilities to Nyabubare Secondary School. The project of 72,438 USD has been funded to construct two classrooms, one computer room and a dormitory block, renovate the auditorium and procure furniture (desks and chairs) for the computer room and double-decker beds for the students.
H. E. Kazuo Minagawa, Ambassador of Japan to Uganda, officiated the hand over at the School and noted that through the project the educational environment at the school would be greatly improved for the benefit of the students.
The donation by Japan is part of the Grant Assistance for Grassroots Human Security Projects (GGP), a scheme administered by the Japanese Embassy to support community development projects to uplift the life of grassroots people. So far, 77 out of the total 155 projects funded under the scheme since its initiation in Uganda in 1992, have been education projects.
Japan, steadily promoting ownership of and partnership with African countries through Tokyo International Conference on African Development (TICAD) process, is committed to boosting economic growth, achieving the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) and consolidating peace and good governance in Africa.
